A gem in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside
Increasingly, consumers are turning away from shopping in impersonal chain stores to seek out local alternatives that really focus on what the customer wants. Texture Interiors is a good example of this, a pretty, brick-walled shop in the Heart of the Shires Shopping Village off the A5 near Weedon in Northamptonshire. Its location – within easy reach of Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire – means that Texture’s customer base comes from within a huge radius.
So why do they make the trip? The shop’s owner, Pamela Gearing says, “We pride ourselves on stocking major names in the world of fabrics (Designers Guild, Zoffany, Osborne & Little etc), furniture and accessories. There’s an eclectic mix: we like to support British companies where we can, so our furniture suppliers include Tetrad, Parker Knoll and Duresta, with accessories from Voyage, Bronte and Libra. We sell a huge number of sofas but try to steer clear of those that are simply style statements. Instead, we only stock well-built, solid wood sofas, made to the highest standards and built to last.
“When it comes to soft furnishings and interior design, we stay abreast of trends and colours while at the same time offering a personalised, bespoke service: a home visit is followed by advice, mood boards, swatches and fabric books. We always aim to work with the client, without imposing our own tastes and budgets, whether the project is simply a new pair of curtains or a full interior design revamp. Many of our clients are repeat customers – they definitely value the high level of customer service they receive, as well as our expertise and experience: often, they come in with no idea of what they want, but leave with a plan or the beginnings of a project.”
Pamela formerly worked in marketing but 11 years ago decided to follow her passion for fabrics and upholstery. After training, she worked from home but was soon inundated with clients and needed a bigger business set up in order to meet demand. For her, a huge amount of satisfaction comes from seeing a project through from start to finish and knowing that a client is delighted with the final outcome. She also has a workshop in the shopping village – Barn Eleven – where curtains and blinds are made on site by her and her team: as well as curtains, blinds, cushions, tiebacks and headboards, they upholster or reupholster client’s antique or modern furniture pieces.
Quality and workmanship are of the highest order: “Our bespoke curtains and blinds are hand-stitched to provide a perfect drape and we only use quality, 100% cotton linings and interlinings. Great attention is paid to pattern positioning and finishing touches, resulting in beautiful soft furnishings to complement any room design.”
Above all, though, Texture Interiors is a welcoming, friendly and stylish place to shop. Whether a customer simply buys a wooden barn owl from Archipelago made by Indonesian artisans, one of Libra’s distinctive people sculptures or places an order for a sumptuous top-quality sofa, satisfaction is guaranteed.
